# Conversation history

> How to find and reopen previous conversations in the FieldPal app.

Every conversation you have with the AI assistant, whether it was a report, a manual search, or a notes session, is saved automatically. The History tab lets you find and reopen any of these.

## Step 1: Tap the History icon

In the left sidebar, tap the **History** icon (below Home and Settings).

## Step 2: Browse your past conversations

Your conversations are shown as a grid of cards. Each card is automatically named and timestamped by the AI based on what the conversation was about, so you do not need to name anything yourself.

## Step 3: Reopen a conversation

Tap any card to reopen it. The app switches back to the Home tab and shows the full conversation, exactly where you left off.

  You can ask the AI follow-up questions in a reopened conversation, just as you would in a new one.

## Tips

* History is useful for finding a report or note you started earlier but did not finish.
* AI-generated names are based on conversation content, so similar jobs may have similar-sounding names. If you cannot find one, scroll through the grid rather than relying on the name alone.
* Tap **Home** in the sidebar at any time to return to the dashboard.
